Lab Steps (adapted for this virtual printer)

  1. On the control panel above, click the cable diagram to plug in the Ethernet cable, then use the Menu button to enable the Wired network interface under Network → Wired LAN.
  2. Still in the menu, go to Print Reports → Network Config and press OK. Read the IPP Printer URL from the page that appears in the Output Tray — that is this printer's network address.
  3. Open Windows Settings → Bluetooth & devices → Printers & scanners → Add device.
  4. Choose "The printer that I want isn't listed."
  5. Select "Select a shared printer by name" and paste in the IPP Printer URL from the status page (instead of a bare IP address — this virtual printer is reached over the internet via IPP, not a raw LAN socket).
  6. When prompted for a driver, choose Generic → Generic / Text Only to complete the lab with basic functionality.
  7. Send a test page. It will appear in the Output Tray above for a few minutes — take a screenshot of it to turn in to your instructor.
  8. Right-click the printer in Windows and select Remove device.
